Fabrication and Model Shop The fabrication and model shop is an open lab containing a large variety of fabrication equipment. Shop access is granted to all students of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, but permission to use certain equipment is restricted to qualified operators. The shop houses traditional wood and metal fabrication equipment, computer-numeric controlled equipment, rapid prototyping equipment, and laser engraver/cutters.

The tool checkout counter provides hand tools and power tools for use in the shop and for overnight checkout. We also sell materials for use in constructing projects. These services are provided for students in all programs at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. The price list contained in this brochure lists the materials available for purchase. All materials are purchased with punch cards provided to Industrial and Entertainment Design students or punch cards purchased in the Accounting department on the fifth floor. | --Printing, Engraving, and Cutting Services | ||||
The fabrication shop offers laser cutting and engraving services. The shop also offers a 3-Dimensional printing service. Brochures containing file and pricing information are available at the tool room on the eighth floor. |

| 3D Printer The 3D printer is used for additive rapid prototyping. It can take a computer-generated 3D model and produce a physical three dimension part! |
